Murder in the year 3000

Summary

Alana finds the corpse of a person she knows well.

Murder in the year 3000

Alana runs among the trees, then tall grass. She’s late for her Transducer training lesson with her tutor and guardian. Tulista isn't going to be happy about that. Alana was taking a nap and she had turned off PJ's alarm function, so she woke up later than expected.

Alana continues to run. When she arrives at the white stone table, she doesn't see her tutor. Where is Tulista? Is she also late?

"PJ, where is Tulista?"

"I don't know, Alana." Replies her computer companion.

Alana walks around, looking for Tulista, and her face changes. It is frozen with terror. In front of her is a body. A lifeless corpse. The body of a woman, of a person she knows well. Tulista. Her guardian's white shirt and beige pants have traces of blood on them. Next to Tulista is a Transducer with a broken crystal. Tulista's face is frozen in an expression of deep surprise. Alana wants to scream, but she’s unable to. After all, the idea of a murder taking place in the year 3000 is insane. Its inhabitants are pure, peaceful. They don't know deceit, betrayal. They learn from the earliest age not to lie, to always be polite and happy. Alana, who has traveled through time in the past, knows that humans are capable of doing horrible things, but here? And who could have killed Tulista? Why?

"Alana?"

PJ's voice prompts Alana to fight her fear and take action.

"I have to get help. Tulista is dead!"

Alana starts running again.
